US Secretary of Commerce: Nothing can stop tariffs imposed on metals.

Foreks - U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick stated that nothing will stop President Donald Trump’s 25% expanded tariffs on steel and aluminum until domestic production in the U.S. is strengthened, and he indicated that copper will also be added to Trump’s trade protections.

Speaking to CNBC, Lutnick mentioned that his upcoming meeting with Ontario Premier Doug Ford aims to "cool down" tensions between the U.S. and Canada. He noted that he will wait for Mark Carney to officially take office as Canada’s Prime Minister before negotiating trade on a national level. Lutnick emphasized the importance of establishing balance and mutual understanding during his discussions with Ford, stating, "This is why I believe we will negotiate with all of Canada."
