TURKSTAT: The share of data obtained through web scraping in the total CPI price data is only 5%.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced that it calculates the Consumer Price Index (CPI) independently, based on data collected from the field, without any requests or instructions from individuals, authorities, or institutions. TÜİK emphasized that the share of data obtained through web scraping methods constitutes only about 5% of the total CPI price data.

Furthermore, TÜİK addressed misleading claims made by former president Birol Aydemir regarding the CPI, clarifying that comparisons between the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce's (ITO) wage index and the CPI are scientifically unfounded. The methodologies and scopes of these indices differ significantly. TÜİK conducts its price data collection through an automated system developed in collaboration with TÜBİTAK, ensuring a rigorous and standardized approach to inflation calculation, free from manual input or influence.
