Weekly loss in BIST 100 exceeds 15%
The BIST 100 index experienced significant losses on the last trading day of the week. It opened with rapid selling and plunged to 9,038 points, marking a decline of up to 8% during the morning session. Although the index partially recovered to around 9,300 points in the afternoon, this momentum was still perceived as a selling opportunity. The weekly loss for the BIST 100 has now exceeded 15%.
In the last hour, the BIST 100 was moving around 9,060 points with a drop of about 7%. Other indices outside the BIST 100 were also down by around 6%, indicating ongoing sell-offs across the market. Sector-wise, communication, factoring, and banking sectors hit their floor prices today, while the construction and IT sectors saw the smallest declines at around 5%. In BIST 100, TKFEN was the only stock to remain in positive territory with a 5% increase, while over 30 stocks fell to their lowest prices.
