Houthis: 6 people were killed in airstrikes conducted by the US in Yemen.

In the U.S. airstrike operation focused on countering attacks on maritime transportation in the region due to the Israel-Hamas conflict, at least 79 people have reportedly lost their lives according to loss reports from the Houthis.

Iran-backed Houthis reported that U.S. airstrikes caused the deaths of at least six people in areas near the Yemeni Red Sea port city of Hudaydah on Tuesday night. The attacks targeting the Al-Hawak area near the city’s airport also injured 16 people. The airport had previously been used by militants to target vessels in the Red Sea. Footage broadcast by Houthi-owned al-Masirah satellite news channel showed the wounded being transported to ambulances and rescue teams using phone lights to search for survivors. It is believed that the target was a residential area and likely part of a broader operation aimed at eliminating rebel leaders. Other strikes reportedly hit Yemen’s Amran province, located north of the Houthi-held capital Sanaa, damaging telecommunications infrastructure there. It was also reported that U.S. strikes targeted other locations in the provinces of Jebel Nuqum near Sanaa, Dhamar, and Ibb, injuring at least three people. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet acknowledged the airstrikes. This stance is consistent with the overall approach of the operation, which began with the White House granting separate approvals for each strike on March 15. It is reported that more than 200 strikes have been carried out so far. U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth indicated that operations would be prolonged, emphasizing that the U.S. would not reduce its pressure on the Houthis during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit. The U.S. operation against the Houthis escalated after the Houthis threatened to retarget Israeli vessels in response to Israel's blockade of aid to Gaza. The Houthis had previously attacked over 100 commercial ships, sinking two and killing four sailors between November 2023 and January 2025. U.S. warships were also targeted in these attacks, but without success.
