Bayburt Governorship: 'The claim of murder in the girls' dormitory mosque does not reflect the truth.'
In the evening hours, dozens of social media users claimed that a chilling murder had occurred at a dormitory affiliated with the Higher Education Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) in Bayburt.
The Bayburt Governorship denied the claims of dozens of social media users regarding a 'murder' being committed in the mosque of the Sultan Fahriye KYK Girls' Dormitory located in the city center on Wednesday. In the statement from the governorship, it was noted, "As a result of the investigations, it has been understood that these claims do not reflect the truth." While it was stated that the incident presented on social media as "suicide" or "murder" is "completely unfounded," citizens were urged not to "believe" such claims. Bayburt University also re-shared the governorship's statement on its X account. In the evening, many people claimed in posts shared on their social media accounts that an individual entering the dormitory from outside had attacked another person praying in the mosque with a knife. Following the incident, which caused a stir in a short time, it was alleged that students gathered in the front yard, chanting "resign" slogans against the dormitory administration.
